The Swedish government has rejected an application by Syrian Airlines to operate four weekly flights between Damascus and Stockholm.
According to available information, the decision was based on flight safety concerns related to Syrian airspace. The airline had planned to launch scheduled services between Damascus International Airport and Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
Despite the bilateral air transport agreement signed between Syria and Sweden in 1955, the decision reportedly does not constitute a blanket ban on all flights between the two countries.
